Look Inside Gucci and Dapper Dan's New Harlem Atelier Opening in January 2018.

Gucci Dapper Dan Harlem Atelier Store Tailoring
Earlier this year, Gucci came under fire for allegedly plagiarizing Dapper Dan for the Italian label’s Spring/Summer 2018 Resort collection. Not only did Gucci go on to confirm that the Harlem-based designer was an influence, the brand also announced that there would be a Fall/Winter 2018 collaboration between the two, with Dapper Dan going on to front the label’s Fall/Winter 2017 Men’s Tailoring campaign.
In another joint move, Gucci also announced that it would work with Dapper Dan to reopen his Harlem atelier. The new 4,700-sq.-foot space is set to feature Gucci fabrics, prints, embroidered patches and hardware, allowing Dapper Dan to use the label’s materials for his own designs. The space comprises of a parlor floor, a production area, vintage furniture, red wall panels, studded velvet screens, and photographs from Dapper Dan’s past.
Dapper Dan is set to start taking bookings for the space in January 2018. In other fashion news, a retrospective exhibition curated by the late Azzedine Alaïa is set to take place in London.
